Emma comes to Cuba St
With the addition of designer Emma Wallace’s boutique ‘emma’ the vibe of Upper Cuba street has grown into the perfect place to visit on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
The new store fits in perfectly with her neighbours – The Powder Room, Arthurs and Martha’s Pantry.
Coming up to her first anniversary, the boutique builds on the nana-inspired workroom/store in Bermampore. Like its sister, it has gained a loyal customer following.
Attention to detail is one of Emma’s strengths with the boutique featuring little extras that create a homely ambience: a photo of a Wellington model from the 60’s, vintage suitcases, gorgeous rose carpets, and 70’s vases - even Plumen low energy lightbulbs!
From her winter “She’s with the band” collection, Emma’s favourite garment is the “jumpin’ jack flash” fur panel merino jumper - also very popular with customers.
My favourite is the “step inside love” shift dress in silk chiffon; reminiscent of the 60’s but wearable now.
Emma’s winter range has attracted a range of customers but they all have something in common – the love of feminine and whimsical fashion and accessories.
Below: Emma stocks treats perfect for presents: some wickedly sweet jewellery by Bailey's Alchemy from Auckland, and a recent addition to the store is a fabulous make-up range in beautiful packaging – loved the rouge that doubles as cheek or lip stain, stocked by Claire Gormly of The Vanity Case. One of Marilyn Munroe’s favourite colours is there, too: Red hot red.
Black and pink mohair crocheted berets by Demelza.
What can we see Emma working on for her Summer range? Look out for navy, a little 50’s glamour, floral and tropicana. Floricana?
